The current situation

If the payments I make for hosting this site stop, then the calculator will disappear for good. I've no plans to stop paying, but who knows what may happen in the future. So I need to ensure continuity.

I'm not looking for an individual to host the site on my behalf, because the same situation will still exist.

I'm not looking for a cycle related business to take it.

The plan

My intention is to offer the calculator as an application you can run yourself on your own computer. This would mean that you'd be independent, and always be able to work out accurate spoke lengths (without having to fall back and use/endure the other legacy calculators).

Feedback needed

I need to lock down the functionality and get everything you need in place, because once it becomes a download it will be extremely difficult/impossible for others to modify.

Things I need to do

• Implement your feedback requests into the current calculator.
• Update the wheelbuilding book with a more comprehensive guide on the calculator and spoke length calculation.
• Make a download version of the calculator.
• Write a developers guide on what changes you can actually make. They are mainly cosmetic changes and changes to the visible text, but it needs a guide because you can easily mess things up!
• Release the calculator as a download which is accessible from your Wheelpro control panel. This ensures that those who support the project by buying the book will get the calculator first. Those who do not support the project will still get their hands on it sometime in the future as it floats around the web, but since they are reluctant to get the book they will not get the best use from it.

As you can see, a lot of work. It would be easier to just switch everything off and do something else. However I have a commitment to those who supported the project and where the calculator has become an important tool in their wheelbuilding activities.
